Designers bulletin

DID YOU KNOW?

The human eye cant really see more than 350dpi.

Avoid gradients from 100% of colours. ie. 100% magenta to 100% black will give a very rough transition.

Idesign's generic black is set to overprint. Create your own black for use in this software.

Imagery

To get impact with your design good imagery can be a great help. The challenge is where to get it from.

If it is a generic image then websites like www.istockphoto.com and 

www.dreamstime.com are very handy. Lots of choice at a relatively low cost, normally around £10 per image.

When searching just make sure you keep a note of the reference number of the image otherwise you may never find it again.

If you want something more specific then a professional  photographer is something to consider. A selection of good local Leicester contacts are:

You or a friend can take the photos yourself but unless they are up to professional standard then you may be doing more harm than good

We all love a pretty picture but it goes beyond that with design. The right image could be the difference between getting or missing the attention you wanted. Dont get your images from Google images. Firstly that is full of copyright issues and also they are usually very low quality.

If you have an event coming up, dont leave your print or design till the last minute. Running out of time means having to rush and thats where most problems happen.
